Who am I?
Well I am a Consultant Psychologist, psychotherapist, management trainer, broadcaster and author.
MSc (Psyche), Dip PE, C&G, Dip. Couns., NNEB, CertEd., will probably tell you what a wide and varied career I have enjoyed.
Some snippets of my experience:
I have worked in primary, secondary, further and higher education; tutor for the diploma in counselling for teachers; psychotherapy for doctors; a senior manager in two higher Education colleges and tutored and organised the MBA programme at the national staff college for further and higher education.
In my youth as a Physical education teacher I was the first England female coach and England team manager for women’ basketball. Attending seventeen internationals.
Later I taught, wait for it, grooming and poise and keep fit in a women’s prison.
Having moved into psychology and academia I continued with six years research study at University of Bath, on Sexuality at Work. As a book it was later published by Batsford Business books. Approximately 90% of interviewees, (senior managers) stated that they were affected in some degree by their sexuality at work. I was in the Sunday Times on sayings of the week, sandwiched between Bill Clinton and Tony Blair’s comments of the week. There set out was my saying, which was
‘I wondered if anyone went to work to work’.
Other management books I have had published were based on my running my own consultancy business for 20 years. Specialising in:
Hence I have had published:
I was able to write my school and educational books and give practical examples because of my wide experience of working with national school training companies; Lighthouse Professional Development for Teachers; Network training, CEM and SFE,
In addition to working with the ground force of thousands of committed teachers and some strange ones, I have had the opportunity to influence, I hope, chief executive officers, Ofsted inspectors and senior education managers, by contributing and chairing a number of inaugural or annual residential school conferences. Like the annual Head teachers Conference, School Bursars, School Secretaries, School Maintenance staff, Head teachers’ Personnel Assistants and School Administrators.
Writing is one thing, however the magic of counselling real people through their concerns, issues and cognitive dissonance towards inner harmony is probably the most rewarding of all my interests. Have a look at my three counselling videos with real life clients whom I had never previously met. I am sure that if you work in this field, you will most certainly learn from their emotional interviews.
That’s enough of me. Now it’s about you. Have a look at what I am suggesting that may help you in your work, whatever your role, salary or status there is something here for you.! (I hope)!
